Are you dreaming of Freedom from Glasses and Contact Lenses?
Lasik is the most commonly performed Refractive Procedure in the world which gives you total freedom from Glasses and Contact Lenses.

Lasik stands for “ Laser Assisted Insitu Keratomileusis”

Lasik is very popular because of the ease of the procedure, and lack of pain and immediate recovery of vision in a days time.

The Steps in Lasik:

The Lasik Surgeon uses a Instrument called as microkeratome to take a flap of corneal Epithelium. This is done after using anesthetic drops and you wont feel any pain during the procedure. The Flap is then folded back and the Excimer Laser beam is used to reshape the cornea. The Laser acts for less than 10 seconds in the eye. Then the Flap is replaced back. You can recover vision immediately and resume back normal activities in a day.

Age: You should be atleast 18 yrs or Older to be qualified for Lasik.

Stable Vision: You should have stable vision for atleast one year before your Lasik procedure. It simply means your prescriptions this year and the previous year should be the same.

Pregnancy: This is a contraindication for Lasik, because certain harmones can affect the eyes.

Autoimmune Diseases: If you are suffering from autoimmune diseases, you cannot have Lasik done.

Healthy Eyes: You should have healthy eyes, with normal cornea, conjunctiva and retina to have Lasik done. Some conditions such as Conjunctivitis, Dry eyes etc will have to be treated before Lasik. If you have cataracts, Glaucoma, Keratoconus etc, you might not be qualified for Lasik.

Certain powers such as minus 15 and above cannot be corrected By lasik.

Before Lasik

In order to decide whether you're a good candidate for LASIK, we will examine your eyes to determine their health, what kind of vision correction you need, and how much laser ablation is required. These tests are called as Prediagnostic testing and is done using instruments called as Orbscan and Abberometer.

We will also look for signs of dry eye disease, which must be treated and cleared up before LASIK can be performed.

If you are a Contact Lens wearer, its very important that you discontinue your lenses atleast a week before you come for the prediagnostic tests. Lasik can be done only after a Lens free period of minimum of one week.

Also, a corneal topographer is usually used; this device photographs your eye and creates a kind of "map" of your cornea. With new wavefront technology associated with custom LASIK, you also are likely to undergo a wavefront analysis that sends light waves through the eye to provide an even more precise map of aberrations affecting your vision.

We will also examine your retina in detail before we proceed for Lasik.

Finally, we will find out from you any health problems you have or medications you take. Some health conditions will disqualify you altogether for LASIK, but others may just postpone the procedure until a later date. For a more detailed discussion schedule a prediagnostic testing at Our Centre.

During Lasik

Lasik is a Day Care procedure. There is no need to stay in the hospital . The procedure is done under local anesthesia after applying drops and takes less than 10 mins. You will not feel any pain, but a slight discomfort during the procedure. It would be better if you had someone to drive you back home after the procedure.

Although the procedure is simple and quick , it has to be done by a good surgeon with the latest equipment.

After applying anesthetic drops, you will be made to lie down under the Lasik Machine. A Eye Lid speculum is applied to your eye ( One Eye is done at a time) but on the same sitting. The surgeon would ask you to look at a central red light from the Laser Machine while he focusses your eye under his microscope.

The surgeon would then apply the suction ring and the microkeratome, you will feel a momentary darkness once the suction ring is applied, then the surgeon makes the epithelial flap. Once the flap is folded back, the excimer laser starts rehshaping your cornea. This takes less than 5 seconds. Then the surgeon replaces the flap back and takes you to the consultation room to record your visual acuity.

Overall the procedure takes less than 30 mins and both eyes are done at the same time.

After Lasik

The first four hours after Lasik, you might have some watering, irritation and Photophobia. Its better to stay indoors during the time. Follow the instructions given by the Doctor and apply the medications accordingly. You should refrain from rubbing your eyes for the first couple of days.

You can have a normal bath the next day and head bath in 3 days.

You can resume work the next day, but its advisable to take rest atleast for a couple of days before you go back to work.

You will have to use antibiotic and steroids for 10 days , and after that Ocular Lubricants for atleast a month.

Activities such as Swimming and adventure sports should be avoided for two monts post Lasik.

If you are over the age of 40 years, you will still need reading glasses after Lasik also, since Lasik can correct only the distance vision.

The Zyoptix Advantage

We are equipped with the Bausch and Lomb Zyoptix Machine which is one of the most advanced Lasik machines available.

Standard Laser Treatment vs. Zypotix Laser Treatment

If you have a higher prescription, thin corneas and larger than the average pupils, then the Zyoptix technology may be the one best suited for your eyes and needs.

Other people do have a choice and are often given a recommendation for Standard or Zyoptix. For standard LASIK and PRK patients, you are also eligible for this latest technology for laser vision correction treatment.

The Zypotix Advantage

Latest state-of-the-art technology

The Z100 laser is the new technology available in the world from Bausch & Lomb, manufactured by precise German engineering.
This latest technology is from Bausch & Lomb, the world leader in laser vision correction technology.
It is the upgraded version of Custom Wavefront LASIK with greater accuracy, and a proven track record.
Increased Accuracy and Safety for Better Results
The laser pulses are twice as fast, leading to shorter laser treatment time, which means increasing accuracy and predictability.
The laser removes 20%-30% less corneal tissue. The less corneal tissue that is removed, the healthier it is for the eye.
This laser is particularly beneficial for patients with thinner than average corneas, larger pupils, higher prescriptions.
The laser has a three-dimensional eye tracker for improved accuracy and safety.
The laser allows for the most accurate and safest laser vision correction today.
Improved Quality of Day and Night Vision.

Lasik Cost

The cost of lasik varies according to the surgeon and the centre. Note that these costs are only indicative and are subject to change.

The regular treatment: Rs 14000 To Rs 17000 Per Eye.

Wavefront or Customised treatment: Rs 18000 to Rs 20000 Per Eye.

The average cost ranges between Rs 30000 to Rs 40000 for a Treament with the Zyoptix Technology.

The Intra Lase Advantage

We are among the very few centers in India which offer the Intra Lase or the Bladeless Lasik.

Intra Laser is also called as “ All laser Lasik” in which a femto second Laser is used to take the corneal flap. This gives a lot of safety and predictability since most of the complications of todays Lasik are Flap related.
